Premarital Counseling

Premarital Counseling

Premarital counseling can be an invaluable tool for couples as they enter into this next chapter in their lives. Although many couples believe they know all there is to know about each other, premarital counseling helps to ensure that each individual has deeper clarity of the impact that their experiences, beliefs and values have on the way they engage with their partner.

Benefits of Premarital Counseling:

Through this process, couples gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their partner, in order to find empathy, compromise, connection.

Each individual will have an opportunity to identify significant experiences that have occurred throughout their lives that have impacted their beliefs, values and perceptions. Through this disclosure, couples learn to find empathy and understanding for one another’s viewpoints.

Disagreements will inevitably occur within a relationship. What matters however, is how a couple engages with one another during times of adversity, and how they ultimately work to reconnect and rectify the situation.

Although intimacy may not be a concern at this point in the relationship, it is important to understand the needs and wants of your partner on a deeper level in order to ensure a more lasting connection.

Being that each individual comes from a lifetime of experiences separate from one another, they bring to the relationship their own views on things such as gender roles, religion and parenting. It is essential for couples to discuss these important aspects of a relationship so that they enter into this union with full transparency.
