Andrea Cernero, MA, LPC

Andrea is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has extensive experience working with a wide range of populations including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. As an Approved Clinical Supervisor, Andrea utilizes her experience to supervise and train Licensed Associate Counselors. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Towson University, Master’s Degree from Seton Hall University, and a Post Master’s Certification in Advanced Counseling at Montclair State University. Andrea’s background includes working as a counselor in the school setting at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, as well as in the clinical setting providing intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient counseling services. Andrea is also a consultant for the Mental Health Association of Monmouth County, providing psychoeducational training to local school districts.

Andrea is passionate about providing therapy to clients who would like to explore personal difficulties that impact their sense of well-being. Among her areas of expertise are assisting clients with anxiety, depression, OCD, self harm, family changes, and suicide prevention.

Andrea has utilized the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) model to facilitate counseling groups for teens focusing on teaching interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, & distress tolerance skills to reduce their symptoms of anxiety and depression. Andrea’s Additional Training Areas Include: Intensive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy Training, Lifelines Suicide Prevention Trainer, & Mindfulness Fundamentals Program.
