About

Brigid

Brigid Laudermilch, MSW, LCSW, is a seasoned clinical psychotherapist with a specialization in supporting adolescents, teenagers, and adults. With a rich experience spanning over twenty-five years, she has been instrumental in guiding individuals towards a deeper comprehension of their emotional and behavioral patterns, alongside offering effective strategies for navigating these challenges.

Having spent seventeen years in educational environments, Brigid has finely tuned her expertise in managing attentional and executive functioning deficits, autism spectrum symptoms, school refusal, and more. She is adept at behavior management and addressing symptoms related to anxiety and depression, making her a valuable ally in mental health care.

Brigid employs a solution-focused, collaborative, and innovative approach to therapy, often thinking outside the box to achieve results. She is deeply committed to enhancing the quality of her clients’ most significant relationships, starting with the one they have with themselves.

Understanding the critical nature of the therapist-client relationship, Brigid prioritizes creating a safe, empathetic, and understanding space. This environment allows clients to comfortably explore their vulnerabilities, leading to profound self-awareness and progress through their present challenges.

What do you want clients to know before their first session?

Prior to their first session, I would like clients to know that finding the right fit in a therapeutic relationship is important. Honesty, trust and consistency are essential to a strong therapeutic relationship and successful outcome. My goal is for clients to feel safe enough to be open and honest without fear of judgement.

What types of clients tend to resonate most with your approach?

Clients who are curious about understanding themselves and motivated to make meaningful change tend to resonate most with my approach. I primarily work with clients ages 14 and older who are open to a collaborative therapeutic process. My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy while integrating elements of psychoanalysis, mindfulness, and other modalities based on each client’s unique needs. This style often works well for clients who value both practical tools and deeper self-exploration.

What kind of work excites you most as a clinician?

I get very excited about neuroscience-informed clinical work! I believe understanding the neurobiological mechanisms underlying thoughts, emotions and behaviors is incredibly empowering. When clients understand the neurobiology behind the way they think or feel, things start to make sense which opens the door for insight, collaboration and meaningful change.

How do you hope clients feel after working with you over time?

I hope clients feel empowered, genuinely seen, and truly heard after working with me over time. My aim is for them to feel understood and supported throughout their therapeutic journey. Ultimately, I want clients to gain the insight and practical tools they need to better understand themselves, navigate challenges more effectively, and move forward with confidence and a sense of success.
